Mint never been rejected before so no wonder she’s in quite a shock. The girls visiting Mint to cheer her up was really lovely and glad to see Mint being able to open herself more to her friends also they even got a pillow fight. Seiji is a good brother, Mint is lucky to have him around.

Looks like Zakuro is gonna be in a pinch. Guessing she’ll be joining the team and have to rely on the girls for help in the next episode.

Quick overview of episode 5:
1) Finally the background story of Mint and character development but changes compared to OG series which Mickey her dog got monster-rise in ep 2 of original anime and chapter 2 of volume of the manga. In this reboot it's ep 5 with the in-between chapter to get Zakuro to fully join which most likely in next episode.

2) As of this ep the pillow fight and staying at Mint's place to cheer her up is true but they also slept over in the manga but that has not happen in this ep since it's still day and Kish/Quiche attacks which it's reintroduction to combine chapters together in this ep.

3)As for transformations go we are finally getting Lettice's transformation sequence but with only with almost with the whole team. (Which to point out in the manga in the first 2 volumes it's quick pace and pretty much all of em are together to transform so in anime we are getting to see how they transform but it is better in the OG when they show them off and from quick to full.), (Also comparing the transforming the pan dents where they transform is canon in the OG anime where's in this they just transform naturally with no jewelry or anything,) As for anymore if expecting a individual transforming sequence for Lettice it most likely when the anime moves forward when it's hitting volume 3.

4)Side notes: In the OG anime it took 12 eps for the full team with a little canon/filler here and there where's is this is gonna finish getting Zakuro to join the team in half the eps which it's a double edge sword. By that two things are happening, 1) it's taking too long in 6 eps to cover just 2 volumes of the manga and probably the 2 chp 2020 anniversary volume just to bring all the girl characters together, 2) This gonna be too rushed to for the other 5 volumes and get to the main story and the introducing the other villain characters which will probably be starting at ep 7 but than it will be too much content to not cover and will be just pass over or skimmed through.

5)Personal thoughts: If this would have been a split cour then everything can or could be covered but most likely in the near end it might secretly announce for a season 2 to cover the rest but it's just guess at this point and as this going so far it's good for a toned down for younger audience and all, but if it's not as good as the old version since probably the content guidelines were probably looser than what they are now and social media would bring SJFW issues at any point.

Oh wow, I'm surprised we're first seeing Mickey this late in this remake tbh, first appeared in like episode 2 in the original or whatever (and still got possessed lol). Speaking of the original, Mint was definitely more annoying in that. ...still not as irritating as Bu-Ling can get tho.

i like how they used the interaction interaction between zakuro and mint to give mint both backstory and character development.

in the og mint kinda got over that interaction too easily, her we she see her pondering and considering why she was rejected

Is it just me or the Mew Mew recruitments feel rather creepy? Ichigo was recruited because she didn't know what to do, and Mint's recruitment felt like taking advantage of her inferiority complex. Was it like this in the original? (I don't read the manga or watch the original anime btw)

Ichigo, Lettuce, and Pudding visiting Mint to cheer her up was really lovely. Nice to see Mint starting to open up to everyone.

I hope there will be more to Kish than all the sexual assault. It works well to make me hate him, but it gets really tiresome having "frequently assaults Ichigo" as his sole defining trait.

Finally, a slower pace with some character development. This gave us some time to get to see the girls' relationships with each other. I love Mint's and Ichigo's relationship here more than I did the original. I could not stand how mean Mint was to Ichigo.

Also, I gotta love how the girls have no problem shooting up other animals (and seeing that they're okay after getting the chimeras out of them) and somehow not being able to do the same for Mickey. Like, did they forget that he was gonna be perfectly okay afterwards?

i kinda wish someone pointed out shooting him in the transformed state was like a vaccine to get him to normal

so we got mint's back story now well techincly we have mint's back story again
